Grab Magazine announced the nominations today for this year’s 2013 Grabby Award Show in Chicago and Hot House nabbed an astonishing 18 nominations, just missing the most nominated studio category by 1. The annual show, held over Memorial Day Weekend, has moved to a new location this year, Center On Halsted, the GLBT Center in the heart of Boys Town and will once again be hosted by perennial favorites Chi Chi Larue and Honey West.

When I was a young boy in Little Rock, AR, we used to have a Mexican restaurant called Casa Bonita that I always begged my parents to take me to. You’d order warm sopapillas with honey for dessert and they’d come piping hot in a basket with some play money at the bottom. Then on your way out to pay, you’d take your fake money and go to the Mexican fortune teller who manned a booth filled with candies and small toys. There, a young boy could literally cry from amazement at all the choices and end up frozen, unable to make a decision. Would it be the butterscotch candies? The bag of mints? The lollipops bigger than my head?

Hot House is pleased to be a partner this weekend with GayHotMovies as part of their promotional efforts in the 2013 GLBT EXPO in NYC. Fans attending the 20th anniversary event can expect plenty of face time with Trenton Ducati and Jimmy Durano, two of the biggest stars in the industry, plus Hot House director Christian Owen at the GayHotMovies booth from noon to 6 p.m. The Expo takes place this Saturday and Sunday at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (38th St. & 11th Ave.) and showcases plenty of gay and gay-friendly businesses (like GayHotMovies) and celebrities (like Project Runway’s Jack Mackenroth, former NFL football player Wade Davis, plus downtown darlings Amanda Lepore and Peppermint.) Tickets are only $17 and we can only hope that a proceed from the sale of tickets will go to pay for a redesign to the most awful website live on the internet today.
